Can Future Generations Build Culture Virtually?

It’s pretty easy to get caught in the hype of, well, HYPE.

We’re flooded with “new”, “important” stuff every minute of every day, all of it presented as if it carries the same cultural weight of the last. Someone collaborated with someone. A new creative director was named to a brand. My fantasy football wide receiver attended a GQ party. Not only is it hard to keep up, the returns diminish exponentially.

So it’s understandable that the announcement of The Hundreds closing their store suddenly - by design - might not have gotten the moment it truly deserved. But it hit me square in the chest. That’s because it was the first place I felt like I could be “part” of this thing that we’re calling “culture”.
